Call for nominations - IFR4NPO Steering Group (Voluntary)

IFR4NPO is an initiative to develop the world’s first Internationally applicable Financial Reporting guidance for non-profit organisations (NPOs). This will improve the clarity and consistency of NPO financial reports, resulting in greater credibility and trust in the not-for-profit sector globally.

CIPFA and Humentum, (the initiative partners)are seeking a Chair and Members to join an expanded Steering Group. The Steering Group is an advisory body established with the specific aim of exploring and concluding on the pathways for the development and maintenance of high quality financial reporting for NPOs.

The purpose of the Steering Group is to provide strategic input to the future development of financial reporting for NPOs as well as providing oversight to delivery of the project. The Steering Group seeks to be broadly representative of sector participants and geographic regions to offer reasoned and diversified view points. Members will not represent the views and interests of their affiliations, except where explicitly stated.

Appointments will commence from March 2023 with an initial term of two years, renewable for a further 3 years. The Steering Group will meet 4 times per year and meetings will normally be virtual. Face to face or hybrid meetings may take place annually.

The roles

It is expected that members will be senior leaders, with the skills and experience to advise on strategy and help shape the future of financial reporting for non-profit organisations. While financial reporting knowledge is needed, members need not be accountants or familiar with the detailed requirements of international financial reporting standards. Experience required for role is:

•Leadership in the sector, including the accounting profession, non-profit organisations and/or fundraising in relation to non-profit organisations

•Strong strategic thinker

•Broad global network of leadership contacts

•Significant demonstrable experience of working in a collegial environment with a globally diverse group

In addition to the experience outlined for members, the Chair must have:

•Mature leadership and influencing skills, demonstrated by previous experience in other Chair roles

•Significant demonstrable experience of accounting standard setting in an international environment

•a strong external profile.
