Biography

Pesh has been involved in the sector for >35 years and works worldwide advising Public Benefit Entities, NPOs, NGOs, social enterprises, impact investors and their funders.  He was the partner leading the Social Purpose and Not for Profits teams at Crowe, Deloitte, Arthur Andersen and BDO. During his time at these firms, teams led by him have been listed as the top charity auditors for 30 years.

Pesh writes and lectures internationally on matters facing the sector. He is joint author of Charities – The Law and Practice and has written a book on Charity Trading. Pesh has much experience of financial reporting, governance, resource mobilisation, financial management, tax matters, risk management, performance measurement, strategic change and knowledge management in the non-profit sector. Pesh is also:

  •  Special Advisor to the Charity Finance Group
  •  The longest-standing member of the UK’s Charity SORP Committee and was closely involved in the production of all the Charity SORPs.
  •  Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW) Charity Audit insights working party
  •  Member of the Financial Reporting Council’s working group that produced the Charity Audit Practice Note

Pesh was also a member of the Accounting Standard Board’s committee that produced the seminal Interpretation for Public Benefit Entities of the Statement of Principles for Financial Reporting. Pesh works extensively with international NGOs and has much experience in financial reporting in different geographies.
