Biography

Assietou is a seasoned financial expert with a diverse international experience in leading public and private organisations.

A strong advocate for “strengthening public finance management” in Africa, she has been committed to driving continental collaboration with international regulators, financing institutions and the African professional accountancy organizations (PAOs) bodies.

Assietou was until recently the Managing Director for Finance & Operations, Gavi. Gavi plays a critical role in strengthening primary health care (PHC) in more than 70 countries working with a large range of partners: the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, sovereign governments, private sector foundations and corporate partners; NGOs, vaccine manufacturers and others.

Before joining Gavi, she worked at the African Union based in Addis Ababa, where she oversaw the Directorate of Programming, Budgeting, Finance and Accounting. Previously Assietou held senior executive positions in the private sector, working for financial institutions in the UAE, the UK and Senegal. Assietou holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from “Sup De Co” in France and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Passionate about change management and innovative thinking in Finance, she is also a BSI certified balanced scorecard professional. She began her career working as a senior auditor in Paris.

She is a member of the IFR4NPO Steering group which provides governance oversight to the delivery of the project.
